5 Rabbit at Chipotle: I’ll Have A 5Lizard Rabbit With My Naked Burrito

In Beer News by Ryan

You’ll soon be able to pair a bright tart 5Lizard with your tacos and burritos with 5 Rabbit at Chipotle. The nation’s first Latin-themed craft brewery, who made a splash over the summer by luring John J. Hall from Goose Island to be its next brewmaster, will soon have its beer available at 15 Chicago area Chipotle restaurants.

According to the Chicago Tribune’s Josh Noel, two of 5 Rabbit’s four year-round beers will be available to start, with the possibility of adding more down the road.

“The beers available will be 5 Rabbit, a simple golden ale reminiscent of Corona, and 5 Vulture, a dark ale more similar to Negra Modelo, brewed with chiles and spices. If sales are brisk, the brewery could add more 5 Rabbit labels to Chipotle coolers and expand the brand’s reach to Chipotles throughout Chicagoland.”

5 Rabbit’s two other full-time offerings include 5 Lizard, a “Latin-style witbier” brewed with passion fruit and 5 Grass, a hoppy ale brewed with juniper, sage, rosemary and Tasmanian pepperberry.

5 Rabbit, who has been contract brewing since 2011, does have a production brewery in the works. At last check the brewery and taproom, in Bedford Park near Midway Airport, is still under construction.
