ABOUT GUYS DRINKING BEER
Guys Drinking Beer began in 2010 around dining room tables in the Chicago neighborhoods of Lincoln Square, North Center and Roscoe Village: the epicenter of the city's original craft beer boom.
Our premise was simple: 3 Guys, Drinking Beer, while taking notes on those beers (oh, and also playing video games).
What started as a parade of beer reviews turned into advocacy and education when small craft brewers nearly lost their right to self-distribute. We took our Save the Craft campaign (#savethecraft) and branded it as a beacon for those seeking real beer journalism, drafted from the halls of the statehouse and Chicago newsrooms.
From there, we pivoted to highlighting some of downstate Illinois' best and brightest craft brewers at our annual Chicago Craft Beer Week event - South of 80.
We cut our teeth in some of Chicago's most well-respected newsrooms. Now, we write about beer. Sure, we do other stuff too - jobs that put food on the table and keep the lights on. But if there's a pint and pen nearby, you can bet we'll be scribbling tasting notes, sharing stories and swapping intel on the latest brewery news.
