New Microbrewery On Tap In Downstate Springfield

In Beer News by Ryan

Once a state capital long-devoid of locally brewed craft beer, the Springfield area will soon be home to three local breweries.

According to the State Journal Register Engrained Brewing Company has begun construction on a restaurant and brewery, with plans to open later this year.

Eight craft beers made on-site will be featured, plus guest craft beers. On the menu will be steaks, pork chops, ribs, sandwiches, burgers, meatloaf and other American fare.

“We’re very much about local, natural, sustainable food, and we’ll source as much of it locally as possible,” Schwoerer said. “We’ll also have as many beer-infused foods as possible: beer-bread pizza, beer-marinated steaks and cheese curds fried in beer batter.”

Engrained joins downtown brewpub Obed and Isaacs and Cantrall based Rolling Meadows Brewery in the Springfield area beer scene.
