The Pipeworks Kickstarter — Remember That Thing? It Went Live 3 Years Ago Yesterday.

In Beer News by Karl

Digital archeology is fun.

Doing some random googling one recent evening, we stumbled onto this page, posted three years ago Sunday. Seems like forever ago, doesn’t it? Back then, a couple of guys named Gerritt and Beejay wanted to start a brewery, and they asked for your help.

They asked like this:

Their goals were clear from the get-go. Small batches, big beers — an outlook that has certainly served them well. Not to mention that the statement above (which we assume was made in equal parts bravado and facetiousness) to become the world’s greatest brewery actually kinda happened.

So: Do you think any one of the folks who pitched in some cash to get Pipeworks off the ground (and we certainly count many in our audience among those) are kicking themselves for not taking advantage of this $10,000 backer reward?

Here’s the grand daddy treat for the most philanthropic effort: We’ll take you to BELGIUM! You’ll get to relive the beginning days of Pipeworks! We’ll take you to where it all started, a tour of Belgium and probably a stop in the Netherlands. Not only will you visit and experience the most holy of brewing sites (Westvleteren, Cantillon, De Struise, The Kulminator, etc…), but if we’re lucky you’ll get to be a part of a collaboration brew with one, or more, of our European brewing friends! Oh yea, we’ll throw all that other stuff in there too, probably by the case (glasses, shirts, hats, key chains, dinner, tap handle, and maybe if there is room a sticker or two).

Maybe if you ask nicely and sign the check right now, they’d still be up for it — their new bottle shop and growler fill space could probably use a fresh coat of paint.
