South of 80 2016 Tap List

Earlier this month we released the info about this year’s South of 80 celebration for Chicago Craft Beer Week. Now, we can reveal the full taplist — and it’s as awesome as ever.

As a reminder, this year’s event returns to The Green Lady on Tuesday, May 24th beginning at 7:00 p.m. And for the first time ever South of 80 will be a true tap takeover as we commandeered every one of TGL’s 30 tap handles for the event.

Here’s what you’ll be drinking.

The South of 80 2016 Tap List:

Old Bakery Beer Company (Alton, IL)

North End IPA, 5.7% ABV
This IPA is dry hopped with Citra, Cascade and Crystal hops.
Citrus Wheat, 4.7% ABV
A wheat beer brewed with lemon peel, orange peel and a touch of chamomile and coriander.
Porter, 5.6% ABV
A classic English porter that’s bold yet easy-going and equal parts chocolatey, nutty and roasty.
1st Anniversary Barleywine, 8.7% ABV
Partially aged in bourbon barrels and finished off with toasted oak, cocoa nibs and cinnamon chips.

Scratch Brewing Company (Ava, IL)

Sassafras Flower Pale Ale, 5.1% ABV
A crisp, light pale ale brewed with fresh sassafras flowers, teeming with aromas of fruit loops, lemongrass and ginger.
Turmeric and Oak Leaf, 5.2% ABV
A gruit made with locally-grown turmeric and oak leaves harvested from the brewery’s property, which create an earthy and tannic beer with hints of pepper and fresh carrots.
Belgian Dark Strong with Black Currants, 7.3% ABV
Fermented with wild house yeast and brewed with locally-grown black currants to create a smooth and lightly tart beer that closes out with a raspberry and raisin finish.

Main Street Brewing Company (Belleville, IL)

Pecan Brown Ale, 5.3% ABV
A malty brown ale featuring in-house roasted pecans, giving it a slightly sweet finish.
California Common Rye, 5.2% ABV
This classic features the sharpness of rye with the maltiness of barley to create a complex yet smooth beer.
Strawberry Blonde Juele, 4.5% ABV
Floral hops, toasted grains and gentle fruit notes make this an easy drinking summer staple.

Rolling Meadows Brewing (Cantrall, IL)

Abe’s Ale, 8.5% ABV
An imperial brown ale brewed with maple syrup, molasses and brown sugar.
Cherry Wit, 5% ABV
Brewed with cherries from a neighboring orchard, this wit beer is slightly tart with a crisp finish.
Strawberry Basil, 5% ABV
A saison brewed with strawberries from a nearby orchard and farm-grown basil.
White IPA, 6.3% ABV
A Weiss beer brewed with farm-grown coriander and locally grown hops.

Iron Spike Brewing Company (Galebsurg, IL)

Flatback IPA, 6.5% ABV
A dry hopped American IPA brewed with Chinook, Cascade and Centennial Hops.
Handcar Hefe, 5.4% ABV
A traditional Hefeweizen that combines light citrus flavors with aromas of banana and clove.
Light Rail Cream Ale, 5% ABV
A craft brewers take on the classic American style ale.
Midnight Express Oatmeal Stout, 5.5% ABV
With notes of chocolate and coffee and a creaminess from the oats, this stout drinks well in both the winter and summer.

Bent River Brewing Company (Moline, IL)

Bourbon Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout, 10% ABV
A Russian Imperial Stout aged one year  in Rogue whiskey barrels adding sweet, oaky flavors to this already bold stout.
Undercurrent IPA, 6.8% ABV
This IPA opens with sweet citrus notes followed by floral hops and closes out with a bitter finish.
De Soto Lager, 5.1% ABV
This clean and refreshing Mexican-style lager is a summer-staple in the Quad Cities. Garnish with a lime – or don’t.
Uncommon Stout, 5.4% ABV

Triptych Brewing (Savoy, IL)

Dad’s New Girlfriend, 6.8% ABV
An IPA that features different hops every time it is brewed. This batch was brewed with a blend of Galaxy and Citra.
These Aren’t The Blueberries You’re Looking For, 3.5% ABV
A tart, playful, refreshing Berliner Weiss featuring notes of citrus, vanilla, and blueberries.
Done With Rye Puns, 9.2% ABV
A rye wine brewed with three different kinds of rye, hopped with Ahtanum, fermented and aged in bourbon barrels.
TL;DR, 8.1% ABV
Too Long; Didn’t Read is a strong Brettanomyces blonde ale full of fruit and funk.

4 Hands Brewing Company (St, Louis, MO)

Hatch, 4% ABV
Brewed in collaboration Destihl, this tart wheat beer is fermented with kiwis and tangerines.
Rubus Flux, 7% ABV
A collaborative brew with Marz Brewing, this IPA features two different strains of Brettanomyces and boysenberry.
Contact High Lime, 5% ABV
A new version of 4 Hands’ hoppy wheat ale brewed with lime.
City Wide, 5.5% ABV
Scarecly available in Chicago, this American Pale Ale is brewed with Simcoe, Citra and Centennial hops.

Rockwell Beer Company (St. Louis, MO)

Miss Maudie, 6.8% ABV, Samples Only
Mixed fermentation multi-grain saison, conditioned on North Carolina Scuppernong grapes. Full bodied, slightly tart with an underlying spicy, earthy funk provided by both Brettanomyces and the grapes.
3Hunnid, 8.5% ABV, Samples Only
Imperial sweet stout brewed with oats and rye with vanilla beans and Blueprint Coffee added; rich, malty and subtly fruity without being overly roasty or bitter.
