A central Illinois brewery that’s gained national attention for its sours, and recently took home a bronze medal in the fruit beer category from the Great American Beer Festival<\/a>, will soon be making its beers available to craft beer fans who aren’t a hop, skip and a jump away from to its brewpubs in both Normal, IL and Champaign, IL.<\/p>\n

The Champaign News-Gazette reports<\/a>\u00a0the Destihl production brewery will be a 20,000 square foot production brewery in Bloomington, IL with plans to begin operations in late 2012 or early 2013.<\/p>\n

“Destihl plans to self-distribute its beers throughout central Illinois once the production brewery is operating.<\/p>\n

The company will initially sell its beers in kegs and then eventually cans and bottles as the project is phased in.<\/p>\n

Production at the new facility is expected to begin in about three months.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We have reached out to company CEO Matt Potts to find out what beers will be available out of the gate from the Destihl production brewery and what markets will see his beer first – but haven’t heard back. As soon as we do, we’ll update accordingly.<\/p>\n
