In what we imagine is the legal equivalent to pointing at your counterparts and yelling, “you suck,” attorneys for Wholesaler Equity Development Corporation or WEDCO took the Illinois Liquor Control Commission’s legal division to task in a recently released document (below) in the ongoing City Beverage dispute before The Commission.
Here’s a snippet.
We presume this is the last, if not one of the last documents to be released before the Liquor Control Commission meets on Monday to decide the fate of Anheuser-Busch’s minority interest but reported majority control of Illinois distributor City Beverage.
WEDCO, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch, has a 30-percent interest in City – which has four wholesalers in the state.
Over the summer The Commission cited WEDCO for violating the Illinois Liquor Control Act. The legal division of the ILCC says a brewer is prohibited from owning a distributor in Illinois.
While the commission’s ruling is expected by Tuesday at the latest most involved in the case expect it to be ultimately decided in court.
