If there is one thing we here at Guys Drinking Beer are particularly fond of, it’s vertical tastings. We’ve done plenty in the past and enjoy the journey of compiling the beers almost as much as we do drinking them. Almost. So when we saw that Jerry’s in Andersonville is tapping three year’s worth of Half Acre Big Hugs on Thursday January 30th we felt compelled to trumpet the event. Not that we really need a reason to — it’s three years worth of Big Hugs, after all.
It’s tough to top Half Acre’s own description of this imperial stout brewed with Dark Matter coffee, so we’ll let them do the talking.
Each year we try to brew a beer that’s hammered out wide, leaving no one feature dangling out as an unwanted henchman. The Tun is punished with scads of grain before pulling out the stained wort of a blackened earth. The kettle rolls this liquid dim end over end while searing the balance to its back and casting the fate into your glass.
If you need something a bit lighter to wash down a three-year vertical of Big Hugs, Jerry’s will also be pouring the following:
- Daisy Cutter
- Alpenglow
- Perennial Artisan Ales/Half Acre Beer Plan B
- Half Acre Firkin TBD
Pours range from 12 ounces to 16 ounces and will run you anywhere $5.50 to $6.50 each. Beers are tapped at 7pm.
(Editor’s Note: We receive a ton of beer-related press releases, but we’ll only bring you the ones we think are relevant, fun, interesting, cool, newsworthy, or offer something we’d be interested in checking out ourselves. Rest assured we’re not just posting these to churn out content – take this as a tacit endorsement from the staff of GDB.)
